Organised tours of Cairo and of Egypt as a whole are easy to come by in Cairo. When you consider the vast percentage of the nation's GDP which is generated by tourism it's not hard to see why – and why almost everything seems geared up to providing tours of some form or other to tourists.

Official organised tours are able to streamline the ticketing and queuing process for attractions such as the Egyptian Museum and the Pyramids and the visa and permit process for leaving the city. However, you shouldn't underestimate the appeal of the hidden parts of Cairo and the delights which can be found in the hands of an experienced local guide.
